Developing multiple competencies at Market Day

OCTOBER 14, 2016 / Events

In Term 3, Year 9 and 10 Commerce students successfully completed a project to create and develop their own business for Market Day.

Through the process, they gained knowledge, skills and experience to understand how people achieve economic growth through business, enterprise and innovation.

They also developed multiple competencies: managing self, relating to others, participating and contributing, thinking and using language, symbols and text. These key competencies are experienced and taught before, during and after Market Day.

Some of the areas of business we have been focusing on are:

  • The importance of teamwork and effective communication
  • Market surveys
  • Advertising and promotion
  • SWOT analysis
  • Time management
  • Supply and demand
  • Keeping track of income and expenditure
  • Supplier management.

For the community and staff, the Market Days are a wonderful event where we can purchase an incredible array of products and produce. The creativity and entrepreneurial skills are well advanced.
