Our East Coast campus raised $716.30 for the Heart Foundation with a student-led event that brought out creativity and teamwork.
Students participated in the event by wearing red accessories for the day. They brought along gold coins for a red-inspired morning tea, and to create a heart-shaped coin trail. A raffle and “guess how many lollies in the jar” competition also contributed well to the funds raised.
At a recent assembly, Greg Edmonds and Tania Jeffcoat from the local branch of the Heart Foundation accepted a cheque from the Hawkes Bay students for $500. The Westmount Gisborne campus contributed $216.30 to the cause.
Greg and Tania expressed their thanks for the gift. They also spoke about how important heart health is, and how students could contribute to helping themselves when it comes to healthy eating.
