Independent schools look to our innovation example

I had the privilege of attending a function at Parliament recently with members of the Westmount National Leadership Team and Board. Independent Schools New Zealand hosted us in the Grand Hall and The Honourable Nikki Kaye, MP was the guest speaker.

Her presentation discussed the positive contribution that independent schools make to the New Zealand education community. It was great to have Westmount recognised for our contribution and also to see the positive journey that we’re on from the perspective of other school leaders.

There is a great deal of interest from some other Independent Schools regarding our Learning to Learn framework, Self-Directed Learning and our use of Learning Centres. Furthermore the Executive Director of Independent Schools New Zealand, Sally King, is also very interested in our journey and will be meeting with us in the near future to develop a closer working relationship.

This is great news and evidence that we are in exciting times as we continue to grow others’ knowledge of the Westmount Journey. It’s a privilege to be part of a global conversation about Learning to Learn as part of a supportive team.
