Westmount School’s Hawkes Bay campus held a highly successful Market Day which raised $3000 for two local charities.
The Lowe Walker Rescue Helicopter service received $2000. Students were thrilled when the helicopter touched down on the school field with rescue service personnel who came to collect the cheque. Charlie Beetham, Chief Pilot of the Rescue Helicopter, said that donations like this went along way towards maintaining the service.
David Smith, Campus Administrator at Westmount School said the rescue service was critical to the Hawkes Bay, and Westmount School did all it could to support it.
The Muscular Dystrophy Association received $1000, and advised us this was the first donation it had ever received from the Hawkes Bay area. The donation will support the association’s work to provide information and support to people affected by neuromuscular conditions.
